Since the 13th century, with its 82 meters in length and 27 in width, it is one of the largest suspended halls in Europe.

Recognized as one of the most famous civil monuments in Europe during the era of the Communes, the building was erected starting from 1218. The 15th-century fresco cycle that makes this immense Hall even more astonishing is one of the rare medieval astrological cycles that have survived to this day.

In the Hall, a majestic wooden horse stands prominently, modeled after the equestrian monument in front of the Basilica of Saint Anthony.
